A Sky Without Stars is a semi-literate roleplay site based loosely on the Warriors series by Erin Hunter. It's set in an AU (Alternative Universe) where the world isn't shaped by reality, but by you, the roleplayers of the cats that inhabit it, an AU where the characters that you have come to know and love never existed. The site is set in Greece, on the mountain that divides Thessaly and Macedonia: Mount Olympus.
You play by create or replying to threads IC (In Character), in which you will post your character's actions and reactions to other characters', building up and shaping their life and other characters', like a collaborative narrative.
For example: You make a thread with your character, Examplepaw.
Another roleplayer replies to your thread with their character, Randompaw. Congratulations! They are reacting to your interacting.
You reply to their post and decide how Examplepaw will react.
You can see how the thread is evolving; at first, Examplepaw and Randompaw are only names and at first all the reader knows is that he is a brown tabby. Interesting, without a doubt, but there must be millions of brown tabbies in the world. What makes Examplepaw so special? As they continue to interact and react, however, the roleplayers get to find out more about each others' characters. Randompaw roleplayer now knows that Examplepaw is boringly generic, a no-no in roleplaying in general but acceptable in examples (hence, his name). You now know that she is a white she-cat, boastful, can be smug, has blue eyes, but acknowledges her respect for her mentor. This thread has caused Examplepaw and Roleplayerpaw to have a relationship, no matter how tenuous, and soon enough, through more roleplaying (what else?) they may even become friends.
As your posts add up, so will your drachma, the site currency, with which you may purchase items in the Shop. Drachma accumulates fairly quickly, so you reap maximum reward for literacy, and activity both IC and OOC.
There are two main groups: The Haven and the Anarchy. The Haven, a structured group of idealistic visionaries that live under by Zeus and the Greek gods, or Gods as they are commonly called, reside in the mountain's densely forested northeast side. Meanwhile, the Anarchy, a disorderly group of pragmatic realists that are protected and ruled by Jupiter and the Roman gods, occupies the sparsely vegetated southwest half.
The Haven is centred on hierarchy and members are ranked above and below others according to status: archons, emissaries, healers, kitten-mothers and superiors, senior troopers, troopers, neophytes, and kittens. In the Anarchy, authority depends almost entirely on physical strength and rarely on heredity as is commonly accepted and sometimes encouraged in the Haven.
Both groups are open. and in need of new members, so don't hesitate to make multiple characters to fill up the ranks. Many HPs (High Positions) are available (being implicit rather than official in the Anarchy, but rest assured your character will still have equal authority as if they were in the Haven) so don't be shy to request one or two HERE. For now members will be allowed to have a maximum of three HPs, but keep in mind that you may be asked to give up but one of them to make room for new members.
There are many similarities between the two groups despite their rivalry; both do not use the suffix 'star' as a symbol of leadership (though in the Anarchy, the concept of leadership is unrefined) and both use 'kitten' and 'path' instead of 'kit' and 'paw' as is used in the Warriors series and accepted on most other Warriors roleplay sites. A cat's trooper name is considered to be a great honour, and instead of being chosen by the archons or, indeed, any mortal cat, it is given to the cat shortly after their trooper ceremony by none other than their patron God or Goddess.
A cat's patron God or Goddess is one assigned to them when they are of age (usually when they have proved themselves of being a true member of the Haven in mid-apprenticeship). The patron God or Goddess will not only be one who sees the potential in the cat, but one that shares many of their traits. They will act as their guardian, protecting as well as guiding the cat through apprenticeship and long after they have become a full trooper of the Haven. There are many Gods and Goddesses, a full list of which can be found HERE and HERE.

Examplepaw padded out of the apprentices' den and saw a cat. He walked over to them.
"Hello," the brown tabby meowed. "How are you?"

Randompaw looked up from the mouse she was eating. She had caught it earlier; it was still warm. The white she-cat was happy at the opportunity to talk about her hunting skills.
"Hi, Examplepaw," she greeted. "Do you like my mouse?"

Examplepaw's glanced down at the mouse, then at Roleplayerpaw again, his amber eyes warm.
"Yes," he replied. "I like your mouse, Randompaw. Did you catch it?"
"Yes," he replied. "I like your mouse, Randompaw. Did you catch it?"
Randompaw couldn't help but purr.
"Yes," she answered smugly, satisfaction shining in slightly narrowed blue eyes. "I'm the best at hunting - well, except for my mentor..."
